Universal Health Care Action Network - MN. www.uhcan-mn.org Sample Single-Payer Resolution for Precinct Caucuses that you could bring to your precinct caucus to help push forward the single payer concept of paying for health care.

Universal Single-payer Health Care Resolution for Precinct Caucuses 2010:

Whereas the U.S. (and MN) has the most expensive health care system in the world in terms of absolute costs, per capita costs, and percentage of gross domestic product,

Whereas despite being first in spending, the World Health Organization has ranked the United States 37th among all nations in terms of meeting the needs of its people;

Whereas 47 million Americans (and MNs), including 9 million children, are uninsured,

Whereas 44,000 Americans die every year due to being uninsured (Inst. Of Medicine),

Whereas tens of millions more Americans (and MNs) are inadequately insured,

Whereas racial, income, and ethnic disparities in access to care threaten communities across the country, particularly communities of color;

Whereas dollars that could be spent on health care are being used for administrative costs instead of patient needs;

Whereas any health care reform must ensure that health care providers and practitioners are able to provide patients with the quality care they need:

Now, therefore, be it resolved that our precinct caucus,for Senate District 45, endorses implementation of a universal single-payer health care system for the United States (Medicare For All, HR 676) and Minnesota (MN Health Plan SF118,HF135).

Universal Single-payer health care system definition: Publicly financed (replaces private premiums with public taxes), publicly administered (by a single government payer), social insurance (everybody in ,nobody out) system that retains privately practiced health care (not socialized medicine).
